A Message from AP Isannah Winley
Dear PS/IS 116 Q. Family,
I hope this letter finds you all in good health and high spirits. It is with great enthusiasm and a deep sense of pride that I write to you as a continuing member of our wonderful school community. My name is Isannah Winley, and I am your Assistant Principal. I’ve been a member of the PS/IS 116 Queens family for over 25 years.
As we embark on a new academic year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the unique strengths and qualities that make our school so special. Our school is not just a place of learning; it is a diverse and vibrant community of students, parents, teachers, staff, and administrators who come together to create a caring environment where each can thrive and grow.
Over the years, our school has demonstrated a commitment to academic excellence, fostering a culture of curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. We take pride in our dedicated educators who work tirelessly to inspire and nurture the minds of our students, helping them to achieve their full potential.
Furthermore, our school community is defined by its inclusivity and diversity. We embrace students from various backgrounds, cultures, and abilities, fostering an atmosphere of acceptance and respect. It is our collective belief that this diversity enriches the educational experience for all and prepares our students for a globalized world.
As a member of this school community for several years, I am excited about the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. We will continue to collaborate, learn, and adapt to ensure that our school remains a place where every student can safely thrive and find their unique path to success.
I encourage all members of our school community to actively engage and contribute to the collective growth and well-being of our students. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of the young minds entrusted to us.
In the coming months, you can look forward to a range of exciting events, initiatives, and educational opportunities. I invite you to participate actively, share your ideas, and be part of the ongoing dialogue that shapes the future of our school.
Thank you for your unwavering support, dedication, and commitment to our school community. I look forward to working collaboratively with all of you as we embark on this exciting journey of learning and growth.
Warmest regards,
Isannah Winley

A Message from AP Claudette Hanson
Greetings PS 116 Family!
I am Assistant Principal Hanson, and I would like to introduce myself.
I have been a member of the D29 Family for twenty-two (22) years, fifteen years as a Science/Math teacher and the past seven (7) years as an Assistant Principal. The entirety of my time was spent at the Middle School level; however, I am excited to be working with the lower grades. My roles and responsibilities are supporting Math/STEAM, Science, Grades 6-8, Physical Education, Speech, and Special Education.
Students’ achievement, safety and social-emotional well-being are some of my top priorities. In support of these priorities, it is imperative that support of teachers is a priority as well. This will be accomplished by ensuring that the mission, vision, and the Instructional Focus of PS 116 is practiced daily. I am looking forward to working with the PS 116 family! Have a great school year!
